Course Outline

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or other personal reasons.

This course provides foundational skills and knowledge to work in the aged, disability and home and community care industry. Students learn to work with a diverse range of individuals to support their independence and wellbeing, in their homes or in community settings.


How this course is delivered

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting.

Assessments may include written and verbal activities, projects, discussions or presentations in a classroom environment.


Who can enrol in this course?

There are no formal prerequisites for this certificate. Students must be 18 years of age or older, and have a sound level in English, reading and writing skills.

A pre-training review is conducted to ensure that prospective students are suitable for the course level they have expressed interest in, and to determine if any strategies are required to assist the student in undertaking the course.

Please Note: All successful applicants will be required to undertake a police check at their own expense to meet workplace regulatory requirements before commencement of practical placement.


Course outcomes

As this is a Nationally Recognised Qualification, a Certificate is issued after the successful completion of this course.
