Course Outline

Do you have a nurturing streak and enjoy spending time with kids?

The course is especially designed for those who are working or intending to work within the children's services and childcare industry. It provides a useful introduction into understanding, caring for and supporting the development of young children.

This course provides a solid basis for further skill development and advancement in a workplace environment.


How this course is delivered

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting.

Assessments may include written and verbal activities, projects, discussions or presentations in a classroom environment.

There is also a work placement component to this course to build and consolidate practical skills in the workplace.

Please Note: All successful applicants will be required to undertake a police check at their own expense to meet workplace regulatory requirements before commencement of practical placement.


Who can enrol in this course?

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, however it is recommended that students are 18 years of age or older and have a sound understanding of English, reading and writing skills.

A pre-training review is conducted to ensure that prospective students are suitable for the course level they have expressed interest in, and to determine if any strategies are required to assist the student in undertaking the course.


Course outcomes

As this is a Nationally Recognised Qualification, a Certificate is issued after the successful completion of this course.


Potential employment pathways

Students who successfully complete this course can enter into the childcare sector. This qualification provides the skills needed to work as a child care assistant in a family day care centre or as a nanny.
