Outside Branch Pitches in for Rail Crossing Removal Project

11 Nov 2018 - WCIG's Social Enterprise, Outside Branch, linked with the Western Program Alliance to complete work within the Level Crossing Removal Project in Melbourne's West.

As part of the State Government's infrastructure project to remove dozens of level crossings, the Western Program Alliance has been tasked with removing a number of level crossings around Melbourne. One of their recently completed projects was the Kororoit Creek Road, Williamstown North level crossing.

The Alliance utilised the services of Outside Branch as part of these works, having found them via the Social Traders directory. This saw the Outside Branch team apply the final finish to the columns upholding the rail bridges allowing trains to pass safely over the road.

75% of the Outside Branch team for this project were Supported Workers living with mental illness, supported by a Team Leader.

The Alliance Procurement Manager Dan Tinetti chose to engage Outside Branch as part of the Kororoit Creek Road level crossing removal works: “We’re really happy to have given Outside Branch the opportunity to be involved in contributing to such a significant piece of infrastructure for Melbourne”.

The Alliance team were pleased to report that the Outside Branch team were punctual and had a really good attitude to their jobs while working in with other crews on the ground. As such, The Alliance has expressed that they would consider continuing to use their services as part of future projects!

Well done, Outside Branch team.
