Westgate Community Initiatives Group Inc. (WCIG) is a well-known, community based not for profit organisation that is committed to creating practical responses to unemployment in the western region of Melbourne and Geelong.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with a passion for working with vulnerable young people. This Youth Worker role will play an integral part within a specialised youth program assisting young people who are in or leaving out of home care to successfully transition into education and/or employment. You will be responsible for connecting with a suite of existing transition and post care services to encourage young people to participate in re-engagement activities; enhance skills and capabilities; and achieve education, training or employment milestones.

The ideal candidate will have had experience working with youth and/or experience in complex case management and be committed to delivering effective and efficient services that result in positive outcomes. You will adapt and be responsive to community and key stakeholder needs and provide outreach support to young people.

 

About you:

  • Completed or working towards tertiary qualification in the Youth Services sector
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of support to vulnerable youth
  • Experience working with youth with challenging and complex behaviour
  • Outcomes-focused
  • Ability to effectively manage your workload to achieve individual and team goals
  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in order to build effective partnerships and working relationships
  • Ability to cope with contingencies, recognise risks and deal effectively with them
