Certificate II in EAL (English as an Additional Language) (Access) 22251VIC

Course Outline

This course is designed to provide students from non-English backgrounds with an opportunity to improve their English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

The course also develops employment and living skills as well as knowledge of Australian society and strategies for successful transition into work or further study in Australia.

How this course is delivered

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom setting.

Assessments may include written and verbal activities, projects, discussions or presentations in a classroom environment.

Who can enrol in this course?

There are no prerequisites to study this course.

Basic reading, writing and English speaking would be an advantage.

All students complete a Pre-Training Review assessment on their English skills and may be interviewed. This is only used to find what EAL course level is most appropriate, and to determine if any strategies are required to assist the student in undertaking the course.

Course outcomes

As this is a Nationally Recognised Qualification, a Certificate is issued after the successful completion of this course.

Potential employment pathways

Students who successfully complete this course are readily able to undertake further education in courses such as Certificate III in EAL to build upon their knowledge of English.

Students may also be able to more easily apply for and successfully undertake employment positions that require basic English communication skills.
